Spencer-Penn's Most Valuable Resource

The success rate for turning an old school into a productive and viable contribution to the community is very low. Other communities have tried and failed. Spencer Penn’s volunteers are the determining factor.

Since the very beginning, volunteers have given their energy, talents and time to make Spencer Penn a success. Renovating tasks included painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and anything else that needed to be done. Other volunteers became active in establishing the library. During the many fundraising events, volunteers stepped up to handle any jobs that were needed. Community members baked many desserts and donated them. Whatever Spencer Penn needed, someone came forward. Spencer Penn has come a long way but the need for volunteers is still great if “she” continues.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Special Events: The Spencer Penn Centre hosts special events throughout the year and volunteers are always needed. The events can include fundraisers and community service awareness, among others.
  • Library: The library is always in need of volunteers Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 10am to 8pm. We also have a summer reading program: 6 weeks, 2 hours a week during library hours.
  • Music Night: One of our busiest nights is Music Night, the second Friday of every month. We need individuals to help pass out quarterly posters to area businesses & organizations. On the day of, we need volunteers to collect donations at the door, sell 50/50 tickets, help in the kitchen & donate desserts.
  • Promotional Materials: Help us with folding, stuffing and stamping in the office.
